How To Change Your Life–without Meditating

This simple truth could change the way you see yourself and the way you live. Learn in its ways while you still have opportunity to learn, because life itself will be changed in ways you did not even think possible.

No matter how you are feeling, there are times we are truly “in need” of something — even when we may be tired or distracted. When we need what is hard to find or to buy, then there is opportunity for change. Meditation, if practiced correctly, can help change your life in many positive ways, not the least of which is making yourself happy. This is what Buddhism means by “nourishing & empowering the mind”. This is what has been called the “mind-body connection.” This is the way meditation can bring a greater clarity & awareness into your life; it can bring a more relaxed, contented, peaceful state, as well as a more focused, concentrated one. Meditation can be practiced by individuals, couples and groups. Just as with a child, the more you practice, the more your mind grows and mature, and the clearer it becomes, a more capable being you becomes.

The key to change is a simple one, so you can begin to understand the true meaning of this word, “Change Your Life”…

1) Realize that you do have choice…

You have the power to take responsibility for your life, your thoughts & actions. But like any power, it must be put to good use…

You have the power to change something in your life:

a) What you do:

a) Your own state of mind, your mood, your beliefs, your emotions, your thoughts, your relationship & your behavior.

a) Your relationships with people:   your personal relationships, your partners, your friends…

But more important is what you think, your ideas, your beliefs…

In this, you have a choice: to allow your beliefs, perceptions, perceptions to dictate who you are and who you feel you are. And like any beliefs, you have the power to change them, or to create new perceptions that make you more aware of yourself and of others. And who are you?

b) The world around you:   your environment

b) Your past:   the events that you remember, the stories you remember, and the life experiences you’ve had…

You can do something about:

a) your health or mental health,

a) your physical health or physical health,

a) your finances or financial health…

Or if you choose, you can change the world around you, and you can do it today.

c) Your life in the present:   what thoughts, feelings, attitudes, behaviors, relationships, events that make up your life…

There is no single life that you can control, all you can control is your life in the present…

2) Know you truly do have choice…

You still get a choice in all things, and you still really don’t have much control over many things. And it doesn’t matter what it is:

a) What you take in,

a) What you get out of…

b) Whether you want to be happy or sad,

c) The results of your actions…

But there is always opportunity to improve in all things:

a) Your feelings & your thoughts

a) Your relationships with people,

a & your relationships with God,

a) Your thoughts and feelings about your life & work

a & how and with whom you spend your time. It is not a coincidence that each one of us has different things that “matter” to us…

b) Your health:

b) Your financial conditions

b) Your career

b) The results of what you choose to do with your time

We all have opportunity in all things, both in our mental & physical bodies. If you are experiencing a physical problem…then find time, or find a physician…but please do what you can to take care of your physical problem. There is no one way to treat a physical problem, but you can be in control of your thoughts, thoughts, emotions, emotions of others, of your thoughts and behavior towards those who are close to you, how you treat yourself, & your thoughts & behavior in general.
