How To Prevent Your Dishwasher From Overflowing

This can happen when our dishwashers get too dirty and take longer to empty out.

In order for your dryer to avoid clogging, we also need to clean the bottom. To clean your dishwasher, first remove all of the soap. Then wipe the soap-soaked bottom of the bottom drain using your finger and a damp, lint-free cloth. If using the dryer, hang the empty dishwasher rack inside your dishwasher and leave the drain open. If you have a dryer window installed in your kitchen you can open it when taking the contents from your dishwasher. Otherwise open the window all the way. Lastly, take your dishwasher’s rack outside to dry.

This problem also can happen when using our dishwasher’s top, but we don’t have enough water pressure to drain the water. To avoid this, we recommend using the following tips.

1.) Use a plastic water hose on the inside of your drying rack to allow water to get out when you hang dry, rather than using a separate, external hose.

2.) If it’s a new dryer, turn on your dryer as soon as you finish using your dishwasher. If it’s an existing dryer, dry the dryer in warm, air-conditioned rooms.

3.) If you don’t have a drying rack to hang your dryer, use the bottom of the bottom drain as a drying rack. To hang your dishwasher rack in the wall of your dishwasher, first turn on the dryer.

This problem may also happen when using our dishwasher’s top, but we haven’t installed a gasket yet. If this happens, you will notice that your drain doesn’t look quite right. Take the drain, open up the wall of your drying rack to drain the excess water, and take your dishwasher out of your drying rack. Now the drain in the wall may look a little different than you’d like it to. So, just make sure you take it outside! To ensure that your drain looks right again, follow these steps:

1.) Turn on your drying rack with the dryer on top.

2.) Turn off the dryer and leave your clothes on the rack. This will allow the water to drain out of the dryer and out of the clothes dryer itself.

If the problem still persists, or if your dryer’s top is not gasketed, we recommend replacing/cleaning your dryer’s top/drain. To replace the gasket, begin by removing the dishwasher drain. If it’s a newer dishwasher, start at the drain opening and move right to the outside. If you have a dryer window you need to follow these steps, but I’ll include them for you.

Open your dryer window to let water drain out of your dryer. Then take a paper towel or cloth and wipe the dishwasher’s metal bottom dryer (the gasket on the outside of the dryer) with the cloth. If the gasket remains, do not remove it, but you can clean the inside with acetone and a rag. To use acetone:

1.) To clean inside, open your wall of your drying rack to drain the excess water. Once dry, add your wet paper towel to a container, add your acetone, and set the lid to one side of the container. Set the container in the sunlight (if the water is still visible) for a few minutes. Then close the lid.

2.) Repeat steps 1 – 5 on the inside of the dryer. Then repeat steps 1 – 3 on the inside of the dryer again. Keep repeating on both sides of your dryer until the gasket has fully dried. Once both sides of the dryer are clean, you’re done.
