How To Reduce Carpet Dirt

There’s nothing worse than carpet and that is a problem that plumber Robert is on the case.

The first step is to clean your carpet. This is a little simple, but don’t wait until after work to do it. There is a reason a couple of times a week is the best time to dust and clean the carpet. Dusting should be a weekly, or at the most a monthly, chore. A thorough brushing of the car and a thorough vacuuming of the carpet will help to eliminate even the largest of carpet dust piles. You can choose to buy a vacuum that has a specific dust removal feature or you can buy one of those “duster boxes” that only take a couple minutes to use.

If you don’t have another cleaning option at home, you can do it in the parking lot. Vacuums come with an option to vacuum in the event that the car gets parked with the windows open for too long or for cleaning. If you have carpeted parking spots, vacuums are usually available throughout the parking lot. If not, try asking someone to vacuum the car in the lobby. There are many places to find vacuum cleaners in parking lots and lots — try going to the parking lot closest to the business, or the mall parking lot closest to the mall, etc.

Another method of carpet cleaning is by placing a vacuum cleaner bag on a vacuum cleaner attachment on an air compressor that has an inline fan. This method can be very effective when applied at the beginning of a job such as cleaning the carpet. The idea here is to blow the vacuum cleaner bag out the door and into the driveway. Another method is to take the bag to your home and then blow it out through a hose into the air conditioner. If you have hardwood floors, put a vacuum filter in the bag to reduce dust. Vacuuming carpet stains and gunk that appears to have gone over the edges of the carpeted area is a good method of carpeting clean-up. A hose attachment will work best for cleaning carpet stains and can be very hard to find if you don’t know how to use it. You can use a hosing or even a vacuum filter to clean a hardwood floor, but it will not get to the deep, deep stain. The bottom line is that you must be a vacuum cleaner that can clean your carpet. If they can’t, get another one.

One last suggestion. Vacuuming the car is one thing, but can we really remove all the dirt and grime that’s accumulated on the carpet? Yes there is. Vacuuming helps.

Step 1: Place your feet, hand (like you would if you were vacuuming), and the end of a rubber band on the carpeted area of your car. This should get a good amount of dirt and grime lifted off the carpet. If you have a carpeted car you may find that you actually have a little more dirt and grime present than you thought. Keep the rubber band still while vacuuming and it will come off as you work.

Step 2: Continue vacuuming the area. Keep working until you notice you have gained some momentum and that the air cleaner has come up through the carpet. Keep working around that area.

Step 3: Remove the rubber band or put it back on and resume vacuuming the area. You should be able to see more dirt and grime come up through the carpet. You may have to lift the air cleaner a little higher in the air to get it to come back to bottom of the area. It works best to stay near the center of the area while vacuuming with this technique.

Step 4: Now put your feet on the floor or something similar and place a piece of clothing that is as large around as possible on top of your hand and the end of the rubber band. Continue to apply pressure on the floor or cloth to lift any dirt or grime that may have accumulated on the carpet. The idea here is to get that dirt and grime as high up in the air as possible to get it off.

The end goal of carpet cleaning is to try to remove all the dirt and grime that’s accumulated on your carpets. As you can see, carpet cleaning is a lot more than just cleaning a carpet. I hope you learned something that will make your job easier while you are getting the carpet cleaned.
