How To Start A New Morning Routine

The best thing you can do for your body is to start a new morning routine and stick with it. You will feel physically better and energized, with a fresh mind that doesn’t need to be distracted. So when you’re not feeling like working out today (or your body isn’t feeling up to it), let your body do what your mind tells it, and focus on just your morning routine: meditation, stretching and exercise. In the morning, this is your new normal. When you find that a new routine works just fine on a regular basis, you can be more flexible in your choice as to which morning routine you stick with. It is your body, after all.

Why Are the Routine of the Morning Important?

I was thinking about this a bit when I was feeling sluggish, sore and generally miserable that day. I was so tired that I wasn’t focusing at all. Then I realized I was doing something I wasn’t used to doing. I didn’t feel awake in the morning, but I still had the “power of waking up” the day before, and I was able to do some work. So why did I feel sluggish?

When your body is in “sloth” mode, it has decreased amounts of sleep and it is unable to produce the natural healing factor which happens in the morning. This can cause a multitude of side effects, including poor quality sleep, headaches, fatigue and fatigue-related digestive issues, such as constipation, indigestion, gas, bloating, constipated bowels and bloating.

But not only sleep is impaired. Your energy level and alertness are diminished, your immune system is weakened, your metabolism is lowered, and your digestion and metabolism are not getting the proper amount of nutrients. In this way, a lack of sleep not only reduces your quality of sleep, but it depletes your energy reserves, making it hard to get out of bed in the morning.

This is why having a healthy morning routine is important. So now that we have a good idea about how to start, we’ll try to get a few things in place that will start making it easy for your mind and body to do this.

It’s all about balance

I’m not the best at writing and I am very rusty at it, but this is what I came up with. I hope it’s helpful and effective.

The main focus of the morning routine should be the right time for you to wake up. For some of you, your body may be in a constant state of “moody lethargy”, sometimes called the “sloth” or “sleepy” state of sleep. This is the best time to wake up if you just want to start something new. On the other hand, others might have a routine that gives them the best time for their bodies to produce more energy, sleep better and wake up feeling fresher.

For my body, it was in “sleepiness” mode for most of the day. I was so drowsy while I was sleeping that I didn’t feel awake when I got up (this might be different for others). I needed to get my body’s attention and wake it up. The best thing I’ve managed to come up with to give my mind a small boost was by taking a 20 min warm up workout followed by a 2:00 cold shower. It gave my whole body a little boost too, making the “sleepiness” state lighter. It’s important to start feeling this way. I don’t mean “fresher” but more on the opposite direction – to have more energy, less tired, more alert.
