What You Need To Know About The Role Of Nervousness

Nervousness is nothing more than fear of uncertainty. Anxiety causes fear which paralyzes you. When you overcome that, you find yourself able to act.

You may or may not be a former professional wrestler, but if you’ve ever watched a match of any kind, chances are you’ve seen nervous people. It’s part of our nature to make ourselves afraid in the moment, when all of our attention is focused on preparing the next move. Once we’re no longer nervous, that’s when we’re able to move forward.

Here are the two key elements that will help you overcome your anxiety and begin to act.

The first, and arguably more important, element is that, when faced with unknowns, we fear what we don’t know. As a result, our minds focus on the things that we know we will be able to do in order to ensure a successful outcome. This is how your fears originate. You fear what you know you can’t possibly do…because that’s what you’re most afraid of. This is why the word will play an invaluable role in your training. By understanding what we won’t be able to do in an emergency, our minds have a way to focus our energy on things that we CAN do. The next element is what you CAN do. The word will play an important role in learning this too. You will see the word will frequently appear. This is because it enables you to visualize the steps you need to take in order to accomplish your goal. So, imagine yourself working out your anxiety…

┬áBy working out your anxiety through the words and deeds you practice, you’re able to focus your attention to what you CAN do.

The last key element is to be yourself. Take things just a day at a time. What you do today will impact what you do tomorrow. We’re all in this together, and you’re in the same boat. The words you use to practice will help you focus on that same goal, and so long as you understand why those words work, you should be able to succeed. So go give it a try!

So now that we’ve established that when faced with uncertainty, we’re faced with fear, it’s time to get into how to overcome that fear. When you’re able to overcome that fear, you will be faced with an overwhelming feeling of joy. What a tremendous feeling! But of course…

…your body may be a little scared. You could be sweating a little, and maybe a little sore. That’s normal.

The next thing to do is start taking action. Once your anxiety begins to subside…

It’s time to get your body ready to take on these new sensations. When you’re physically ready to handle these new sensations, you’ll begin to feel the same level of excitement and joy that you had with the words and deeds you practiced…

In order to truly overcome the fear of uncertainty, your body must experience the same sensations that were experienced after the words and deeds you spoke and began doing. This is where the role of mental rehearsal is very important. If you were to perform each of the steps in your rehearsal, the moment they are all said, you will feel the same feelings that you had with the words and deeds. This is the same in your mind…

In fact, that’s where you will be once the physical sensations subside. You will feel the same levels of happiness and excitement. You will have the same level of anxiety and confusion if your nervousness continues…

So, take the steps. Practice each movement for five minutes…

If your nervousness persists, it could be due to your not feeling ready to do them.
